Fly from Addis Ababa to Gondar in the morning. After arrival, enjoy a lunch stop in Gondar, then drive north to Debark, the official entrance to Simien Mountains National Park. Continue into the park to Simien Mountain Lodge, located on the edge of dramatic escarpments.

In the late afternoon, take a gentle acclimatization hike around the lodge, ideal for adjusting to altitude. Enjoy spectacular sunset views and observe Gelada baboons as they move toward their cliff-hanging sleeping sites, one of the park’s most iconic natural spectacles.

First Full Trekking Day | Afro-Alpine Landscape

Starting Altitude: 3,260 m

Ending Altitude: approx. 3,300–3,400 m

After breakfast, begin your Simien Mountains trekking adventure along established mountain trails. Walk through Afro-alpine vegetation, open grasslands, and along breathtaking escarpments overlooking deep gorges.

The route provides excellent chances to see Gelada baboons, endemic birds, and distant mountain peaks. Picnic lunch is served en route before continuing to the first wilderness campsite.

Highland Plateaus | Remote Wilderness

Starting Altitude: approx. 3,400 m

Maximum Altitude: approx. 3,600 m

Ending Altitude: approx. 3,500 m

Trekking Distance: 12–14 km

Trekking Time: 6–7 hours

Today’s trek takes you deeper into the heart of Simien Mountains National Park, crossing high plateaus and skirting dramatic cliff edges. This is one of the most scenic trekking days, with wide panoramic views and pristine wilderness.

The altitude gain is gradual, making the day challenging but rewarding. The area is ideal for nature photography, birdwatching, and quiet immersion in Ethiopia’s highland environment.

Arrive at your second campsite in the afternoon and enjoy sunset views over the Simien escarpment.

Final Trek | Highland Villages

Starting Altitude: approx. 3,500 m

Ending Altitude: Adirqay – approx. 1,900 m

Trekking Distance: 8–10 km

Trekking Time: 4–5 hours

After breakfast, complete the final section of the Simien Mountains trek, descending gradually toward Adirqay. The trail passes cultivated land and traditional highland villages, offering insight into rural Ethiopian life.

Upon arrival in Adirqay, enjoy lunch, then transfer by road back to Gondar. Evening at leisure.

Enjoy a guided Gondar city tour in the morning, visiting the Royal Enclosure (Fasil Ghebbi) and historical landmarks. After lunch, transfer to the airport for your afternoon flight to Addis Ababa.

Upon arrival, continue with a short Addis Ababa city tour, including the National Museum of Ethiopia and shopping. End the journey with a farewell dinner at 7:00 PM, followed by hotel or airport drop-off.
