Overview
Danakil depression is one of the most extreme and unique places on Earth. Located in the Afar triangle Northeast of Ethiopia, it is the lowest point in the African continent and is home to a variety of geological wonders, including active volcanoes, salt lakes, and lava fields, salt mining and the colorful potassium active spring field.

Tour Itinerary
Start the day by driving to Erta Ale or to the smoky mountain in Afar language. Erta Ale ranks one of the most alluring and physically challenging natural attractions anywhere in Ethiopia. It is a shield volcano with a base diameter of 30 km and 1km square caldera at its summit.
Erta Ale contains the world’s only permanent lava lake. It is 613 meters above sea level at the summit. It is notable for being the longest existing lava lake, present since the early years of the twentieth century.
drive to Askoma (at the base of Erta Ale hill).
The 247 km distance may take about 6 hrs passing through the changing landscape of solidified lava, rock, sand and occasional palm lined oasis. arrive to Askoma camping site found 10km far at hill bottom of Erta Ale by the late afternoon. Dinner will be served soon around 17:00 pm.
Start trekking up to Ertale at 02 pm after having dinner and a refreshing break. Ascending to the rim of the volcano will continue then with the convoy of the Camels transporting the camping equipment where to spend the night to watch the dramatic lava lake activities.
After wondering the sunrise from the volcanic hilltop, Start descending down from Erta Ale by 6:30 am and walk to the base camp for 2 hrs, then have the breakfast before departing to Dallol.
Keep driving for 6-7 hrs on the other side of Danakil depression to get to Dallol. Hamedila is (the next campsite in this area). At the possible time this evening drive to visit lake Asale with sunset and camel caravans. And in the morning this is one the

Early in the Morning Drive to Asebo, the place where the local Afar peoples are mining salt. Look at the activity of workers breaking salts from the ground, cutting into rectangular pieces and loading on camels. Next drive to Dallol and visit the different landscapes formed by volcanic activity.
Afterwards, drive back to the base camp for breakfast. Next, Continue driving back to Semera through Afdera where to stop for a refreshing break at the fresh lake. Swimming and Lunch is at Afdera. Proceed to Semera. overnight stay in Semera Town.
In the morning after having breakfast at the hotel pass to the airport to Catch the morning flight to Addis Ababa. Airport Pick up in Addis will drive you to the hotel.
